Collaborative Notes

! -- Important Points:

It is an continuous process that is integrated into instruction.
There is no single conduct formative assessment.
Feedback is very important and it helps students to "close the gap"
Both students and teacher need to be asking "Where am I going?" "How am I going?" "Where to next?"
Students must use self-assessment to adjust their own learning.
In order for students to say that they don't understand something students must feel safe.
Students should discuss, share, write their own draft, reveiw, conference with the teacher, get feedback from teacher, make more revisions, and turn it in.

** -- This may signal a change in practice:

Feedback should be used to make changes in the learning of students.
Teachers must teach students to self assess.

C -- Connections to the CORI framework:

Learning goals and essential questions should guide student learning and should inform students what they need to know.
A variety of stategies are used.
Scaffolding can be used to identify the degree to which the learning is advancing.

? -- Questions we have:

How do we determine what sucess criteria is?
How do we teach students what success criteria is?
How do you teach students to self-assess?
